This Bloomfield Hills paver patio reconstruction project was completed for a homeowner who had recently purchased the property and inherited a failing rear patio system.
The existing paver installation had been improperly constructed, leading to significant structural failure, movement, and surface instability.
To restore both safety and aesthetics, Grow Garden and Landscape Design performed a full-scale reconstruction, removing all failed materials and rebuilding the entire system from a properly engineered base.
The original outdoor space had multiple structural issues:
The entire system required complete removal and reconstruction.
For this Bloomfield Hills paver patio reconstruction, we executed a full teardown and rebuild approach:
This ensured the new installation would perform correctly for years without movement or failure.
To elevate both durability and design, the following elements were installed:
The completed Bloomfield Hills paver patio reconstruction delivered:
The transformation turned a failing outdoor area into a fully functional landscape system.
The reconstruction followed a precision-driven process, beginning with the complete demolition of the failing patio system, followed by site clearing and material disposal. We then rebuilt the foundation using an engineered stone base, completed structural grading and leveling, installed a retaining wall, and integrated steps using the Unilock system. The project concluded with detailed hardscape finishing and complementary landscape planting to create a cohesive, long-lasting outdoor space.
Most patio and hardscape failures occur due to improper base preparation, inadequate drainage, or incorrect installation techniques, all of which can lead to shifting, settling, cracking, and long-term structural issues.
Project timelines depend on the size, scope, and complexity of the work. Most projects are completed within 1–3 weeks, including demolition, site preparation, and full reconstruction; however, timelines can vary based on design requirements, material selection, weather conditions, and site-specific challenges.
