It can be disheartening to see a meticulously kept interior contrasted with an aging, neglected lawn that begs for revitalization.
At Grow Earth, we’ve been laying down grass, or sod as we refer to it in the industry, for the past 17 years. From yards of Birmingham, Royal Oak and Ferndale to expansive commercial properties, schools, playgrounds, and even large-scale installations for concert venues covering acres, we handle it all.
We pride ourselves on going the extra mile on every installation. We undertake – from meticulously preparing the grounds and employing organic methods to remove debris, to using ample soil as a base and structure for proper sod growth. We utilize more soil than any other Midwest sod installer we’ve encountered. Our machinery is specifically dedicated to sod installation, from breaking down the clay-based soil of Michigan to thoroughly mixing soil several inches into the soil.
The process of preparing the grounds is meticulous, and we adhere to several standards:
Soil Breakdown: We utilize Power raking equipment, such as Harley rakes or Power rakes, to break down the soil to a depth of 3-4 inches.
Debris Removal: Next, we meticulously remove any large rocks or unwanted debris that could hinder the longevity of the grass.
Topsoil Mixing: We carefully incorporate topsoil into the prepared area. Our goal is to establish a proper base layer of soil that fosters optimal grass growth in the future. This step not only enhances water absorption but also reduces susceptibility to diseases such as fungus.
Leveling: The entire prepared area is hand raked and leveled to ensures a smooth surface. A pitch is also created to push the water away from the foundation for proper drainage.
Grading: Finally, we grade a premium Kentucky Blue Grass, ensuring the highest quality turf for your lawn.
